The government of Flanders awards grants for student mobilities to countries outside Europe that are not among the Erasmus+ programme countries. This scholarship programme aims to encourage mobilities for studies, internships or thesis research in countries outside Europe, complementarily to those included in the Erasmus + programme.
Students from all disciplines may apply for this scholarship. Your higher education institution may have additional selection criteria.
All countries are eligible, except:
- EU countries;
- North Macedonia.
The total scholarship consists of:
- a scholarship amount of €650 per month (depending on the number of months granted by the higher education institution);
- an amount for travel costs, determined based on the distance between Belgium and the host institution;
- students from underrepresented groups will receive €200 per month in addition to the scholarship amount.
The duration of the mobility is at least one month (5 ECTS) and at most 12 months.
Application and selection procedure
Selection of students will take place within the Flemish higher education institution, based on suitability, skills and the available budget. The higher education institution has a transparent selection procedure with clearly indicated selection criteria and deadlines. In addition to the programme’s selection criteria, the higher education institution can determine their own criteria.
At least 25% of the selected students must be part of the underrepresented groups.
