The Washington Center
The Washington Center is an independent non-profit organisation that offers internships and academic seminars to students from Flemish higher education institutions. Every academic year, there are 12 scholarships available to students from Flemish higher education institutions who want to do an internship for one semester at an international organisation or company in Washington, D.C.

Candidate profile
Only students from the following areas of study may apply for the scholarship:
- business and management;
- criminology;
- IT;
- international relations;
- arts;
- media and communication;
- political sciences;
- law;
- world trade.
Destination
Washington, D.C.
Scholarship amount
The scholarship is a one-time award of € 9.000 and € 3.500 for the virtual program. Students from the underrepresented groups will receive € 12.000 and € 4.300 for the virtual program.
Duration
The duration of the mobility is one semester.
Application and selection procedure
Step 1: Apply through the coordinator at your higher education institution’s international office.
Step 2: Your higher education institution will pre-select the candidates.
Step 3: Your higher education institution will submit your application to the Flemish Higher Education Council (VLUHR).
Step 4: A qualified board of jury members will perform an external selection based on:
- motivation letter;
- transcript of records;
- curriculum vitae;
- profile.
